Island Peži: New Adult-Use Recreational Cannabis Dispensary Opens in Prairie Island
Island Peži, the latest addition to the cannabis market, has officially opened its doors in Prairie Island, near Red Wing, Minnesota. This new dispensary, owned and operated by the Prairie Island Indian Community, marks a significant milestone as the closest dispensary to the Twin Cities since recreational cannabis use was legalized last year.
A Unique Opportunity
Island Peži’s strategic location close to the Twin Cities and its adjacency to the casino at Treasure Island Resort & Casino are expected to drive profits. These profits will contribute to the tribal government, supporting essential services such as health care and education.
Community Involvement and Decision-Making
The tribe’s decision to enter the cannabis business was made through community outreach and consensus. Tribal members participated in the decision-making process, ensuring that diverse perspectives were considered. Island Peži now stands as a well-regulated business, providing safe access to cannabis products.
Island Peži represents a step forward in cannabis accessibility, offering a legal and well-regulated option for adult-use recreational cannabis in the region.
