NORWALK — The city of Norwalk has welcomed its third and final cannabis dispensary with the opening of Shangri-La, located at 75 Connecticut Avenue. The dispensary, known for its vibrant pink and purple design, officially opened on Monday, just slightly behind schedule. The company had initially estimated a later opening, but delays in getting cannabis products ready for sale caused the timeline to shift.
A New Addition to Norwalk’s Cannabis Scene
This Shangri-La location is the second dispensary the company has launched in Norwalk, joining its other retail spot at 430 Main Avenue. The newly opened store features a colorful drive-thru, which is set to officially open on Tuesday, offering customers a convenient and efficient way to purchase cannabis products.
Patrick Dyson, Shangri-La’s director of operations, expressed excitement about the dispensary’s opening. “It’s a large responsibility for us to try and provide the best customer experience possible,” Dyson said. “We’re thrilled to be able to serve the Norwalk community and bring another option for cannabis consumers.”
Drive-Thru Service to Launch Soon
Shangri-La’s drive-thru service, set to open Tuesday, will allow customers to pick up their cannabis purchases without leaving their cars. This addition is expected to enhance convenience and provide a seamless experience for those who prefer a quicker, more private transaction.
While the dispensary opened its doors Monday morning with banners that read “open now,” Dyson noted that getting the products ready for sale had caused a brief delay. “It takes time to get the product in, processed, and stickered,” he explained.
Norwalk’s Growing Cannabis Market
The opening of Shangri-La’s second dispensary further expands the city’s cannabis offerings. Norwalk’s cannabis market has seen rapid growth, with Shangri-La now adding a new, colorful retail experience. The dispensary joins the two others already operating in the city, providing residents with increased access to adult-use cannabis.
Licensing and Regulatory Updates
According to state public records, Shangri-La’s adult-use cannabis retailer license became active on November 26, 2024, aligning with the dispensary’s official opening. This was also the same week that Shangri-La President Kepal Patel had anticipated the launch, making the timing a significant milestone for the company.
As Norwalk’s cannabis market continues to expand, the Shangri-La dispensary is sure to become a popular destination for both seasoned cannabis users and newcomers looking to explore legal options.
